Leaf: twisted full leaf
Aromatics: sweet fruits
Palate: red berries and spice, pine, rose petal, elegant rounded clear-tasting - reminiscent of a light red wine.
Origin/Notes: This tea is grown at 2000 metres elevation on Ai Lao Mountain in the Simao prefecture in Yunnan. It is processed in a style similar to the Taiwanese black teas, which is evident in the flavour profile.
Ai Lao is a heavily forested mountain range, rich in biodiversity and home to many wild and ancient tea trees and old cultivated tea groves. It is also home to several indigenous groups, who farm teas alongside Han Chinese farmers.
