Twisted, discoloured pale green and white lace, like a pile of gumtree twigs. Delicate. Scents of seaweed sweetness foreground subtle butcher shop meatiness. White coloured water steeps long to flash pale gold. Such delicate complexity. Faint watermelon, dried apples, grass shoots. Soft, silk surfaces refresh the tongue like summer rain. Beguiling and restoring. (Daniel Honan @thewineidealist)
Leaf: large velvety white buds
Liquor: pale, clear
Aromatics: Caramel, hazelnut, nutmeg.
Palate: Malty, smoky and like tree bark. Elegant and refined with floral and apricot notes. Light, refreshing, clean and simple. Notes of minerals, dry wood and fresh flowers. Imagine sitting in a sunny garden after the rain. A very light and very delicate tea.
This white tea has been picked amongst the swirling mists, at elevations of between 1200 and 1400 metres in the northern Vietnamese province of Yen Bai. Local H'mong hill tribe people climb high into the trees to collect the silver tipped buds that are used to make this excellent quality white tea. It is delicate, yet sweet with hints of sugarcane, and tastes as pure as the mountain air in which it grows. Produced organically from wild tea trees.
