Leaf: traditional handcrafted ball rolled
Liquor: light, clear
Aromatics: sugarcane, smooth fragrance of jasmine flowers
Palate: well balanced, the jasmine subtle and not at all overpowering, the green tea is vegetal and fresh grassy notes are present.
Notes: This tea is produced in Yunnan using both excellent quality green tea and jasmine flowers. It is certified organic by IMO.
The traditional method of producing jasmine tea using jasmine flowers involves layering of the green tea and jasmine flowers such that the jasmine fragrance infuses in the tea. Cheaper and inferior quality jasmine teas use a concentrate or essence to flavour the teas.
Origin: Yunnan, China (Spring 2017).
Quantity: A thin teaspoon per cup (4g/200 ml)
Steeping time: 3 minutes
Water temperature: 80 C
Green tea tip!
Boiling water can damage the delicate leaves and over-steeping can cause bitterness in green tea.
It takes a little longer than just a few minutes for the water in your boiled kettle to cool down to 80°C. Best to add some cold water or an ice cube to your cup or pot before introducing the leaves.
