Leaf: Twisted leaf, fully oxidised (black) tea
Liquor: light copper
Aromatics: Moist walnut character, with some stone fruit notes, flint, wet leaves, mineral, hay. Of the earth.
Palate: malty, sweet dried apricots, sultanas, slight menthol finish.
Notes: This fully oxidised tea has been expertly crafted using a wild tree purple leaf varietal from Dehong prefecture in China. This tree varietal is very old, and non-hybridised - it grows wild in the mountainous areas of this prefecture at altitudes of 1600 to 2200 metres. Only very small quantities of this tea are produced.
Its cha qi is a notable feature of this wild-grown tea. Suitable for ageing.
