Tear open the packet and breathe in deep. Savoury, stemmy, green, yeasty aromatics nip at your nostrils. An unlikely prelude for what's to come. In the pot, sweet rainforest notes. Misty, drizzling rain landing on water lilies, then, once steeped and poured, soft cucumber, pear, melon, lime, and curiously concealed kiwi flavours carry soft milky textures across your tongue. Revitalising, calming, deviant. (Daniel Honan @thewineidealist)
Jin Xuan is a special variety of Taiwanese Oolong, which is fragrant with a hint of creaminess. It is medium roasted, which enhances its fruity flavour.
This Jin Xuan is grown in the famous Oolong producing region of Alishan at an elevation of between 1200-1500 metres. It is produced by an outstanding tea maker, who is meticulous in his farming practices and takes pride in the quality of his products. The high mountain environment in which this tea is grown is pristine. See our blog post on Taiwan Tea Travel for more information and photos.
